What kind of place is it?This sets how much sun your panels actually get.
What do you want solar to carry?How long must it carry the night?Your house keeps its grid supply and whatever generator you have. If light goes in the daytime the panels carry you directly. The battery is for the dark hours — so that is what we size it for, and nothing more.
Which battery?Both are proper batteries. Lithium costs more today and lasts far longer; tubular costs less today and needs replacing sooner. We size the bank differently for each, because they cannot be discharged as deeply.
